You know when a cat has too many toys and ends up playing with the box? That’s your brain on option overload.
Design fatigue is real. After staring at 16 versions of the same layout, your eyes glaze over, your judgment gets foggy, and suddenly version 3 looks just like version 12. You’re no longer evaluating – you’re surviving.
It’s called cognitive fatigue. The more options you see, the harder it becomes to choose. Like trying to pick the fluffiest cushion in a room full of cushions – at some point, you just curl up in a corner.
Clients often ask for “more options” thinking it’ll lead to better results. But often, it leads to paralysis and watered-down design.
Great design is not a buffet. It’s more like a well-balanced bowl of kibble – portioned, thoughtful, and just right.
Trust your gut (and your – Design Neko – cat designer’s instincts). Less truly is more. If a cat had 17 windows to jump out of, it would never choose one. 🙂
